Compleo, a leading EV charging and infrastructure provider, is set to make a dynamic entrance into the UK’s electric vehicle scene by participating in the highly anticipated EV Rally.
The EV Rally, now in its fourth year and recognised as a pinnacle event in the electric vehicle calendar, serves as a vibrant platform for showcasing the latest in e-mobility. With a record nineteen teams entered and more than two hundred participants joining along the route, the Rally brings together a diverse array of vehicles, businesses and destinations to illustrate the possibilities and ease of transitioning to electric vehicles.
This year, the 2024 EV Rally adopts an old-school mapping theme, embarking on a 1,400-mile, five-day journey covering the length and breadth of England from points A to Z. The five day rally starts on Monday 1st July with scheduled check points along the route where participants can take a break and recharge their batteries.
A highlight stop on the rally route will feature a showcase charging hub at Tingley Garden Centre in West Yorkshire on Tuesday 2nd July. Dubbed “Juice by Compleo”, the checkpoint boasts an impressive array of 56 Compleo EV chargers, which are powered by a combination of solar panels and 100% green electricity generated from sun, wind and water.
With two DC charge points and 54 AC chargers on offer, it’s the perfect place for garden centre visitors to recharge while they enjoy the facilities, whilst also offering the convenience of rapid 50kW charging for those who want a quick top up just off the M62.
Keen to welcome EV rally participants to the checkpoint, Jo Dales, Head of Marketing for Yorkshire Garden Centres Group said, “It’s great to offer customers the chance to charge whilst they shop, eat and play at Tingley Garden Centre. We’re pleased that we are becoming a destination for EV drivers, with more and more choosing to break their journey and charge their cars in a relaxed environment like ours. They’re able to enjoy great food, fantastic hospitality, family-friendly play at Grass Hoppers or Mission Out and have a good browse around the garden centre whilst they charge – or take advantage of our rapid chargers if they’re simply wanting a quick pit stop. We’re delighted to have been chosen as a showcase for destination charging and are really looking forward to hosting the EV Rally teams at Tingley next month.”
In addition to providing charging facilities along the Rally route, Compleo is also fielding two teams, who will have chance to drive the very latest electric cars from Hyundai and Kia, which have been kindly sponsored by the manufacturers. The EV Rally will give participants the opportunity to experience first-hand the ease and pleasures of life on the road with an electric vehicle.
Compleo, a German-owned EV charging and infrastructure provider, has solidified its presence in the UK by deploying over 1,200 chargers at franchised car dealerships and nearly 1,000 at Network Rail sites. The company’s comprehensive end-to-end service caters to businesses and car park owners seeking seamless integration of EV charging solutions.
The recent introduction of Compleo’s groundbreaking eTower 200 adds another dimension to their offerings, capable of simultaneously charging two vehicles with up to 200 kW DC. This innovation expands Compleo’s AC & DC charging solutions, providing versatile options for public car parks, fleets, and dealership solutions.
Advocates for sustainability and champions for diversity and inclusion across the EV sector, Compleo is also sponsoring the Women Drive Electric team, which makes its debut at this year’s EV Rally. Featuring an all-female crew, and joined on the Rally by Compleo’s Head of Marketing and Communications, Clare Nicol, Women Drive Electric is an organisation on a mission to make EVs more appealing and attainable for female motorists, whilst connecting and supporting women working in the EV sector.
In addition to lending her support to the Women Drive Electric team, Clare Nicol expressed her enthusiasm for the event, stating, “We’re thrilled to join the EV Rally and showcase the UK’s EV charging success. Public, workplace, and depot charging are integral to the road to net-zero, and we’re eager to demonstrate how straightforward it is to integrate charging solutions into any business, whether it’s an office with five parking spaces or a garden centre with 500.”
Colin Boyton, Rally Event Manager, added, “I am delighted to welcome Compleo to the event for 2024, giving us the opportunity to truly showcase fleet and workplace charging solutions in the UK. We’re excited about the prospect of stopping at one of their key locations on Day 2, leveraging the power of the Rally to demonstrate the art of what’s possible.”

About the EV Rally https://www.ev-rally.co.uk/
The AtoZ EV Rally is a 5 day, 1400-mile moving showcase of all things Electric Vehicles (EV). The event demonstrates vehicle capability, featuring cars, vans and all-electric HGV, charging infrastructure and clean energy projects. Participating teams complete daily routes, stopping at official CheckPoints along the way, such as EV charging hubs, and broadcast their progress across social media. Vehicles are fitted with innovative telematics technology, measuring ‘energy consumption’, and at the end of the Rally we will announce a winner, based on the best Miles/kWh readings.
